Spam email is one the
burdens of modern life, it's also a very useful tool for keeping in
contact with your customers and announcing yourself to prospects.
Email marketing, like any other form of marketing, is not about
selling products that don't work to people who don't want them.
Targetted emails to existing cutomers, opt in mailing lists or
industry specific purchased lists can introduce the reader to new
products or services that you provide in a way that gives them the
option to proceed if they wish.
Heddy's restaurant in
Wilmslow is "a fantastic Mezzeh Bar
and Restaurant serving Middle Eastern and Mediterranean
cuisine". On each of the tables is a card that gives customers
the opputunity, if they wish, to provide their email address in
order to be contacted with offers and notices. Every month I
sit with Heddy to go through new menus and offers and then I create
the emails and send them. The following month we review the
performance of the email in terms of how many people read it,
clicked on a link to the website, if appropriate, or phoned to book
a table. Keeping in regular touch with customers is vital in a
service business and customers actually thank Heddy for reminding
them of forthcoming events so that they can make arrangements for
family celebrations.
Email marketing is not
spam, it is knowing your own products and services and presenting
them to
the right market place.
